PRE-English
Walailak University Launches “Pre English” Program to Strengthen English Foundations for New Students in TCAS Rounds 1 and 2 — Over 120 Hours of Intensive Instruction
The program runs from May 16 to June 6, 2025, spanning a total of 20 days and more than 120 instructional hours. Its primary objective is to equip students with essential English language skills prior to the commencement of the academic semester.
The “Pre English” program aligns with the university’s strategic focus on enhancing students’ English proficiency, particularly among first-year students undergoing the critical transition from secondary to tertiary education. This initiative is designed to prepare them for courses delivered in English, academic communication, and integration into a 21st-century higher education learning environment.
The curriculum emphasizes the development of all four core language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—through interactive and practical learning methods. Students are engaged in real-life communication scenarios while simultaneously building vocabulary and mastering essential grammar structures relevant to university-level studies.
Beyond linguistic competence, the program also supports students in adapting to university life, fostering new friendships, and cultivating an academic and social environment conducive to holistic personal development.
Walailak University envisions the “Pre English” program as a vital first step in laying a solid foundation for its students, empowering them to use English with confidence and competence throughout their academic journey and into their future careers.
Life Abroad at Penang
Walailak University Organizes “Live Abroad at Penang” Program to Prepare Students for International Experience
The International Affairs Section of Walailak University recently organized the “Live Abroad at Penang” program, aiming to enhance students’ knowledge, skills, and real-life experiences in preparation for studying or living abroad.
The program reflects the university’s commitment to developing global competencies among its students. By providing a simulated international experience in a culturally rich and diverse setting like Penang, Malaysia, the initiative offers participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a new environment, practice cross-cultural communication, and gain practical insights into daily life overseas.
Throughout the program, students engaged in interactive activities that focused on language use, intercultural exchange, and adaptation strategies-essential components for academic success and personal growth in international settings. The trip also included visits to educational institutions, cultural landmarks, and local communities, fostering a deeper understanding of regional identity and global citizenship.
The university believes that “Live Abroad at Penang” is more than just a short-term excursion-it is an important step in cultivating confidence, curiosity, and the readiness needed for students to thrive in the global arena.
